Comedy Night at Left Bank
6 Nov 2020 6pm - 9:45pm
Think we could all do with a laugh this year (cheers COVID)! Our comedy nights are here to make your 2020 that bit funnier.
Our October event was a success, so we've decided to make Left Bank comedy nights a regular deal! MC Tony Vino will be back each month with three more acts to tickle your funnies. More about them below.
Our good friends Sela Pizza provide food, with veggie, meaty and vegan options available. You'll be able to pre-order before the event, or order to your table when you arrive. We'll send you info about this in our pre-event email. If you fancy a drink, your first one's on us – each attendee gets a free can of Jameson, ginger and lime.
As a COVID-secure venue, we've put measures in place to keep you safe. You can book in groups of up to six people and everyone will be seated at an appropriate distance. You'll be able to order food and drink directly to your table throughout the event.
Doors are at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm. We expect to wrap up around 9.45PM.
Our lineups are always diverse – expect to discover something a little different! Here's who's on the roster this time:
Mandy Muden (BGT Semi Finalist 2018)
Mandy is the only woman ever to combine comedy and magic on the UK comedy circuit. With a striking personality and razor-sharp wit, she creates a fantastic rapport with the audience (and offers plenty of opportunity for audience participation!).
'Imagine Alison Steadman playing a beauty consultant doing Tommy Cooper-style magic. Can"t imagine it? Then go see Mandy!' The Scotsman
'Mandy is going to be huge' Billy Connolly
Raul Kohli has fast become one of the most captivating acts on the circuit. As one of the few Asians to have grown up in the far north of England (Newcastle Upon Tyne), he’s been blessed with a worldview that upends ethnicity, culture and class.
Raul's Edinburgh Fringe debut show 'Newcastle Brown Male' was one of BBC Radio 4, The Huffington Post & the Skinny’s top picks of the Fringe 2016, while his most recent 'All My Heroes Are Dead, in Jail or Touched Up Your Nan' was nominated for Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival 2019.
‘A powerful, passionate, open-minded, intelligent voice. It is superb political comedy and commentary’ The Scotsman
'Poisoning the minds of British children with pro-immigrant claptrap' Nigel Farage
Ivan Brackenbury, hospital DJ
A daft, inept yet adorable radio DJ takes you on a hilarious broadcasting journey. Ivan’s hospital radio show captures all the fun and excitement you’d expect from being in hospital – games, giveaways, patient requests and his special blend of music and chat. Complete with inappropriate records and bungled cues, this is a unique, brilliant show that took the highest accolade at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where The Times comedy critic declared it ‘the funniest show at the Fringe’.
'Deliciously enjoyable' The Guardian
'Audience of the verge of being hospitalised with laughter' Independent On Sunday
MC: Tony Vino
Preston’s very own funnyman, Tony Vino (**** The Scotsman) has been touring the comedy scene since early 2005. Well aware of social and political issues, he mixes friendly, well thought out observational humour with audience interaction and quick-witted responses. A finalist in 2006 Funny Bones competition, Tony has enjoyed recognition as a comedian and comedy compere of renown. His life and interests are wide-ranging and so is the subject matter he weaves together on stage.
'Uplifting style, great delivery and consistently funny throughout.' BBC Manchester
'Tony Vino makes me laugh on and off stage. He’s always funny and has some of the same letters as my name.' Tim Vine
During this period of social distancing and lockdown due to Coronavirus we advise that you check directly with the organiser of this event that it is going ahead as publicised.
