Comedy Night at Left Bank
3 Oct 2020 7pm
Think we could all do with a laugh this year (cheers COVID)! This lineup of talented comedians is here to make your 2020 that bit funnier.
Four standups from across the UK and beyond bring their unique perspectives to this comedy night. From a UK Pun Championship winner to the 'Liverpudlian Daria', our acts are as diverse as they are funny – check out each comedian's profile below. Acts are selected by experienced MC Tony Vino, who'll also guide you through the evening.
Our good friends Sela Pizza are providing food, with veggie, meaty and vegan options available. You'll be able to pre-order before the event, or order to your table when you arrive. We'll send you info about this in our pre-event email. If you fancy a drink, your first one's on us – each attendee gets a free can of Jameson, ginger and lime.
As a COVID-secure venue, we've put measures in place to keep you safe. You can book in groups of up to six people and everyone will be seated at an appropriate distance. You'll be able to order food and drink directly to your table throughout the event.
If there are no tickets left for the party size you want to book, please get in touch with us at email@example.com as we may be able to shuffle the seating plan to fit you in.
Doors are at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. There will be two breaks – after the first and third acts – and we expect to wrap up around 10.30/10.45pm.
Jo is a highly acclaimed comedian and gifted character actress who has performed on television and radio. You might have seen her starring alongside Steve Coogan in I'm Alan Partridge, with Peter Kay in Phoenix Nights or as Angela in the ITV sitcom The Job Lot.
'One of the most naturally gifted comic talents I’ve ever seen.' Peter Kay
'If she was broccoli, I’d turn vegetarian.' Barry Cryer
Rob Thomas is a storytelling comedian with a razor-sharp wit and quirky physicality. He has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, won the 2018 UK Pun Championship in front of 1200 people and was the London Evening Standard's Critic's Choice for his 2017 solo show. In short, he’s funny.
'Rob was the best punner on the night and clearly understood the importance of a clean, clear set up as well as the killer punchline.' Sabotage Magazine
'I was basically in hysterics. And I mean hysterics: laughing and crying.' TheCreativeIntrovert
Expect a frank, acerbic and brutally honest set from young comic Hannah Platt, who was a BBC New Comedian of the Year finalist in 2019.
‘Dark, damaged and hilarious’, Josie Long
‘Voice of a new generation’, The Skinny
‘Liverpudlian Daria’, Ents24
Malawian comedian Daliso Chaponda has performed all over the globe, including at the Melbourne, Montreal, Edinburgh and Cape Town Festivals. You might recognise him as a finalist from the 2017 series of Britain's Got Talent, or from his BBC radio show Citizen of Nowhere. He recently performed in front of over two thousand people at the Stand-Up Africa concert in Johannesburg.
'It takes a special kind of act to work on both sides of the Atlantic (as well as across Africa), but it seems an easy transition as he compels the crowd with his socially insightful comedy.' News and Star
'Full of extravagant gestures and impassioned speeches. He inspires whoops and cheers from his watchers. Highly recommended.' BBC Tees
MC: Tony Vino
Preston’s very own funnyman, Tony Vino (**** The Scotsman) has been touring the comedy scene since early 2005. His life and interests are wide-ranging and so is the subject matter he weaves together on stage.
'Uplifting style, great delivery and consistently funny throughout.' BBC Manchester
'Tony Vino makes me laugh on and off stage. He’s always funny and has some of the same letters as my name.' Tim Vine
During this period of social distancing and lockdown due to Coronavirus we advise that you check directly with the organiser of this event that it is going ahead as publicised.
£10 per person, please book for your whole party if you'd like to sit together!
