Changes in the Morley Landscape - Dr Clive McManus for Heritage Open Days
11 Sep 2020 - 19 Sep 2020
Join Dr Clive McManus, President of Morley Local History Society, for an online illustrated talk which will look at the various factors that have changed the Morley landscape over the years.
Morley's basic industries at the start of the 20th century such as textiles, coal mining and quarrying have now almost completely disappeared. The types of houses in which people live have changed too. Transport has been revolutionised with the introduction of motorways and the reduction of railway services. Chance events such as the Town Centre fire have also had a profound effect, as have changes in education and medical care.
This event is part of this year's Heritage Open Days festival, which takes place between 11 and 19 September. Find more great events http://heritageopendays.org.uk
