Bridges of Leeds
17 Nov 2019 2:30pm - 4:30pm
Criss-crossing the waterways, central to the story of Leeds over the centuries.
Many a settlement grew up at a crossing point of a river and Leeds is a typical example.
Come and explore the ways that the River Aire has flowed through the history of Leeds, how the canal added to the economy and how the waterways have been (mis)managed. What role will they play in the future of the city?
We’ll follow the river and canal, cross bridges when we come to them and learn about the changing economic and water environment.
Meet in City Square near the Joseph Priestley statue in front of Banyan restaurant. The walk will start properly when we reach the river and we’ll go downstream as far as the newest bridge - opened October 2019.
During this period of social distancing and lockdown due to Coronavirus we advise that you check directly with the organiser of this event that it is going ahead as publicised.
£10 per person
