Unlocked - Inspiration from Isolation
Whilst many theatres and arts companies across the country have…
Multidisciplinary artist Melissa Procter presents a series of miniature mixed media sculptures in her solo exhibition 'Balancing Act' at Compact Contemporary this March.
Procter uses materials not traditionally used in fine art, preferring those more commonly found in DIY stores. The artist's practice involves creating abstract assemblages, sculpture and collage.
She is interested in the juxtaposition between analogue and digital, 2D and 3D; and natural and synthetic.
Procter has produced small art works for this exhibition at Compact Contemporary, which is a gallery in a repurposed dolls' house. Her work explores the notion of scale in sculpture, and the artist challenges the cliche that a sculpture must be large.
This exhibition is only viewable online due to Covid-19 restrictions. Please head to @compactcontemporary on Instagram.
