countrysiderangers@leeds.gov.uk.  The Chevin is well served with footpaths and bridleways.  All of the routes are steep and can be muddy in wet conditions.  The best outlook is the Surprise View which can be reached easily by walking up from the Becon House Car Park.  Don't go on a foggy day though!

If you're mad about wildlife then the Chevin Wildlife WATCH group is perfect for you.  This group meets twice a week and has a varied programme - walks, tree recognition sessions, bird walks, mini-beast hunting, den building, day trips and barbecues.

The sessions start at 10am and finish at 12 noon unless otherwise stated.  The cost to join is a £1 per child unless the group is out on a site trip.

To stay on your own you have to be 8 yrs plus and your parent or carer will have to sign a consent form.  If under 8 a parent or guardian has to stay with you.

The Chevin can get quite cold so make sure you wear suitable clothing and strong boots.

To get more information about what the group is doing contact the Parks & Countryside Ranger Service on 0113 237 5268 or email countrysiderangers@leeds.gov.uk
