The Real Princesses of Yorkshire
17 Feb 2018 - 30 Mar 2018
Photography Exhibition by Maria Spadafora
By taking the iconography of big princess frocks and tiaras and populating them strong, powerful, talented people from Yorkshire (including some in drag), these photographs poke a little fun at gender stereotypes whilst celebrating the diversity of real people. Nobody in these pictures is waiting to be saved by Prince Charming.
This exhibition first appeared at Arts@Trinity in September 2017 to great reviews, so this is another chance to enjoy these gently subversive portraits.
It will be accompanied by a gender-positive songs and stories workshop 'Not All Princesses Wear Pink' on Saturday 3rd March, in celebration of International Women's Day.
"Love this exhibition. Wonderful to see 'normal' women of the community who are 'princesses' in their own right!" Visitor
Please check times with event organiser for any last minute changes.
This exhibition is in Assembly Bar + Kitchen on the ground floor where we recommend you eat cake - cake is for eating!
