What does it mean to be ‘autistic’? Do autistic children suffer because they are neurodiverse in a world structured for neurotypicals? Miroslav Janek, the acclaimed Czech documentarist has a bold vision and challenges us once and for all to stop perceiving autism as a medical diagnosis and try to understand it as a fascinating way of thinking that’s often maddeningly difficult to decipher. Janek embarks on a series of encounters with children and young
adults diagnosed with autism and we find ourselves questioning and ultimately re-defining the boundaries between ‘normality’ and ‘otherness’.
